This copy of Maint corps des chambres bears a warm dedication to de Cardaillac, inscribed:
“for Simon / who saves the little boats / lost in the Indian ink / his friend / Pierre / 4 December 1982.”
Alfred Manessier, Christian Dotremont, and Pierre Alechinsky had exhibited together at the Galerie de France in 1978, where Simon de Cardaillac first entered the circle of these artists. He became particularly close to Alechinsky, attending several of his openings, including the exhibition at FIAC on the Maeght Lelong stand held on the occasion of the artist’s birthday. Their friendship endured for years, with Alechinsky sending him cards and personal notes.
Original illustrated book, 13th volume of the Argile collection.
Composed in Baskerville type and printed on December 15, 1980 by Robert Blanchet (typography) and Atelier Moret (engravings).
