SALVADOR DALÍ – Le Décaméron, 1972
Complete portfolio of the English edition, comprising 10 original drypoint engravings in colors, each hand-signed in pencil by Salvador Dalí. Épreuve d’Artiste (E.A.) copy, outside the numbered edition of 150, printed on Chiffon de la Dore at the Ateliers Rigal, under the artistic direction of Michele Broutta. This example bears the printer’s autograph ownership inscription (“faisant partie de notre collection – Rigal”), confirming direct provenance from the Rigal workshop — a feature that makes this portfolio significantly rarer than standard E.A. impressions. All sheets are loose as issued, with the original wrappers and housed in the original cloth portfolio case; the engravings are in excellent condition with strong, fresh impressions, and the case shows only minimal handling wear. Dalí produced this series for the 1972 multilingual edition of Boccaccio’s Decameron, published in four versions (French, English, Italian and Swedish), each limited to 150 copies; E.A. copies were issued only in a very small, undocumented number and are considered the most desirable examples of the edition.
